Interestingly, there are very few hotels or motels in Port Douglas, as the entire region is devoted to personal service, which hotel accommodation and motels don't tend to facilitate as easily. Port Douglas' beach, the famous Four Mile Beach (pictured below) is home to many accommodation properties which offer beachfront accommodation. This area is very popular, and certainly one worth considering if you enjoy ocean views and soft breezy waves. Oak Beach is another popular beach accommodation destination just south of Port Douglas, as is Newell Beach, and Thala Beach. These beaches also offer absolute beachfront accommodation, mostly from the many gorgeous holiday homes built in the area.

Although Port Douglas doesn't really have a 'budget' accommodation range, motels and apartment complexes provide afforable accommodation in Port Douglas, especially for families.

Port Douglas is also considered by many to be an ideal hub to tour Far North Queensland, as its proximity to other major attractions is a major time advantage. Port Douglas is the closest point to the Great Barrier Reef, with many tours to the reef leaving from the pictuesque Marina Mirage. Closeby is the Daintree Rainforest, and further north, Cape Tribulation.. a place many refer to 'where the rainforest meets the sea'.

Those who love the water will especially love Port Douglas for its wide range of sailing options, and liveaboard boats. Many of Australia's most luxurious vessels moor in Port Douglas... it's not affectionately known as Port (Douglas) for nothing. Accommodation in Port Douglas on boats, sailing, fishing or otherwise is plentiful.
