Your local guide to accommodation in Cairns.
Known as the art deco capital of Australia, Innisfail is a delightful and bright town, located on the banks of the picturesque Johnstone River. Traditionally a sugar town with dense rainforests at nearby Wooroonooran & Palmerston National Parks, Innisfail is perhaps a sleepy tourist town rich in fresh produce.
The natural deep water harbour at Mourilyn houses a sugar museum which documents the trials and hardships of cane farmers since their arrival in Innisfail in the 1880's. Exotic fruit, barramundi, crayfish & crocodile farming, tea and a budding wine industry are other income earners for Innisfail residents.
An out of the way tourism destination, Innisfail is a good stop over point between Cairns and Mission Beach, and while there is a limited range of accommodation in the area, boutique unique's prosper and delight holiday makers.
The areas of Johnstone Harbour, Flying Fish Point, Ella Bay, Kurramine
Beach and Bramston Beach are popular fishing spots, and fishing fanatics
flock to these spots and consider them 'well kept secrets'.
