Artie is originally from Northern NSW, but has lived in Queensland for almost 20 years. He moved to Cairns from Rocky to live in an environment which has rainforest and rain, as opposed to the traffic and dust he would have had if he had of returned to Brissie.
His past work experience encompasses programming, Unix systems administration and the frontline support which accompanies these roles. He prefers scripting languages such as Perl and PHP in a Unix environment over other platforms.
Artie is skilled in the following languages... Perl (extensive experience in coding and configuration), PHP/Smarty (picking up most of these techniques in the 6 months he has been working at CoC), Unix shell (several years in the mid-late 90s), Java (some personal tinkering), HTML/CSS/Javascript (skills are constantly improving since he started at CoC, admittedly from a fairly basic understanding).
Some of Artie's favourite things are...
Rainforests and tropical gardens, bushwalking, movies, apple products in particular Macs and travel. I’ve been to Asia several times (Southern China/HKG, Jakarta, Thailand, Singapore) and hope to be able to get there again in the very near future.
